The South Korean military says North Korea fired multiple projectiles presumably from rocket launchers on Sunday morning. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on Sunday night that the projectiles were fired between 8:07 a.m. and 11:03 a.m. South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported that about five projectiles were fired from the North's western coast toward the Yellow Sea, to the west of the Korean Peninsula. The South Korean military stressed that it is maintaining a readiness posture in close coordination with the United States, while bolstering its surveillance of North Korea. South Korea's presidential office convened a meeting to discuss responses. Officials expressed concern that Pyongyang continues to upgrade various weapons that pose a direct threat to South Korea. They reaffirmed Seoul's position that it will respond sternly.
