Russian forces continue their fierce attacks on the Ukrainian stronghold of Severodonetsk in the eastern region of Luhansk. The Russians have bombarded the last of three bridges leading to the center of Severodonetsk after destroying the other two, cutting off a possible evacuation route for civilians. Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai said on social media on Monday that all bridges had been destroyed, and that civilians stranded in the city are trying to survive under extremely difficult conditions. The governor also expressed concerns about people who have been sheltering at the Azot chemical plant, which is one of strongholds of Ukrainian troops defending the city. Haidai said that about 500 people, including 40 children, are still sheltering there. He noted that the underground shelter of the chemical plant is not as robust as that of the Azovstal steel mill in Mariupol. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent a video message to a meeting of an American Jewish organization held in New York on Sunday. He called for help to speed up the supply of weapons to Ukraine, saying that without powerful weapons, the war will only drag on and the number of victims will increase. He asked the American Jewish community to use even more of their influence to help Ukraine.
