Doctor: Abe sustained damage to heart vessel NHK

Doctors at a hospital in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture, where Japan's former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo was treated has held a news conference after the announcement of his death.

ER doctor Fukushima Hidetada says Abe was transferred to the hospital at 12:20 p.m. without vital signs. He says Abe died at 5:03 p.m.

The doctor says there were two gunshot wounds in Abe's neck and he sustained damage to a heart vessel. The doctor says the medical team couldn't stop bleeding.
