US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a joint statement on Friday.
Abe was deeply involved in the founding of the 4-nation framework consisting of Japan, the United States, Australia and India.
They said Abe "played a formative role in the founding of the Quad partnership, and worked tirelessly to advance a shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific."
