Russia imposes entry ban on 384 Japanese lawmakers NHK

Russia has banned 384 Japanese lawmakers from entering the country.

The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that Moscow blacklisted Japan's Lower House members in retaliation for Tokyo's sanctions on Russian lawmakers, imposed in April.

The ministry accused those Japanese lawmakers of taking an unfriendly position towards Russia, and in particular of making groundless accusations regarding what Moscow calls its special military operation in Ukraine.

In May, Russia banned entry to 63 Japanese citizens, including Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa.
