Japanese actor Abe Hiroshi honored at NY Asian Film Festival NHK

Japanese actor Abe Hiroshi has been recognized for a career spanning three decades with the best actor award at an international film festival in New York.

This year's New York Asian Film Festival features over 60 films produced in Asia, including Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. It's running from July 15 through 31.

Abe received the film festival's Star Asia Award, which goes to the best actor in Asia, at a ceremony on Friday. He's the first Japanese person to receive the award.

The organizer of the festival commended Abe for using his ability as an actor to dazzle audiences for 30 years.

Abe said, "I'm glad to have this wonderful award. I'd like to thank all the staff involved in this festival and all the people who made me stand here."
