M7.0 quake in the Philippines leaves 2 dead NHK

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the northern Philippine island of Luzon on Wednesday. Media reports indicate that at least two people are dead and several dozen others are injured.

The US Geological Survey says the quake was shallow, yet powerful. Officials say there is no threat of tsunami. Many people were evacuated from high-rise buildings.

A woman said, "It was really terrible. The shaking was really strong."
