Ohtani falls short of reaching Babe Ruth's record NHK

Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Angels started Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers with the goal of achieving double-digit wins and homeruns in the same season, a record set by baseball great Babe Ruth. But he failed to earn a win.

Ohtani started as pitcher and leadoff batter for the Angels.

He had a rough start, giving up three hits in the 1st inning and leaving the bases loaded. But it didn't take long for Ohtani to warm-up and he struck out the following three batters.

Ohtani soon seemed to have regained his stride, earning a solo homerun in the 4th inning and another run in the 5th inning.

The Japanese two-way star pitched 6 innings with 8 hits, 2 earned runs and eleven strikeouts.

Ohtani had a good start but the Angels came up short and lost to the Rangers 0 to 2. Ohtani now has 9 wins and 6 losses for the season.
