The seven-day average through Sunday came in at 32,177.6. That was up 31 percent from the week before.
Tokyo officials said the number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines stood at 23, down one from Saturday.
They also said one girl under the age of 10 and seven people in their 70s to 90s died.
