Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio says his speech at the review meeting of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons was to show Japan's strong resolve to uphold the treaty along with other parties. Kishida told reporters after addressing the NPT review conference on Monday that he will lay out a realistic road map to achieve a world without nuclear weapons. Kishida said the Hiroshima Action Plan -- a five-point scheme he unveiled at the meeting -- is a first step toward that goal. Kishida said that in order to build momentum toward next year's G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan will play its part to bring about a concrete outcome during the conference.
