Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio will reshuffle his Cabinet and the leadership of the main ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Wednesday.
Kishida is set to appoint the LDP's new leaders in the morning. Vice-President Aso Taro and Secretary-General Motegi Toshimitsu will remain in their posts. Economy and trade minister Hagiuda Koichi will become chairperson of the Policy Research Council.
Kishida will hold talks with Yamaguchi Natsuo, the leader of coalition partner Komeito, before the new lineup of the 19-member Cabinet is announced in the afternoon.
Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa, Finance Minister Suzuki Shunichi, Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu and two others will remain in their posts.
The lineup will include five former ministers.
Kato Katsunobu will assume the post of health minister for the third time, and Hamada Yasukazu will return as defense minister. Nine others are first-timers.
The ministers will be ceremonially endorsed by Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace.
