Automakers at a motor show in Indonesia have announced details of the electric vehicles they plan to provide for the Group of 20 summit set to take place in Bali in November. Delegates are expected to move around the island in EVs. At Indonesia's largest international motor show, which opened in a Jakarta suburb on Thursday, manufacturers revealed what those vehicles will be. Japan's Toyota Motor said it will provide about 140 EV units of its luxury Lexus model. South Korea's Hyundai Motor promised around 320 units, including electric vehicles manufactured in Indonesia. The company founded Indonesia's first EV factory in March. SAIC-GM-Wuling, a joint venture between two Chinese firms and General Motors, pledged roughly 300 units produced at its EV plant that opened in Indonesia earlier this month. Analysts say the carmakers hope to use the summit to advertise their shifts to EVs. They add that the Indonesian government is also trying to turn the gathering into an opportunity to showcase the country's efforts toward decarbonization. Anton Jimmi Suwandy is the marketing director of Toyota Astra Motor, a joint venture between Toyota Motor and an Indonesian company. He said it's time to show Indonesia's vehicle electrification at the G20 summit.
