Average US gas price falls below $4 per gallon NHK

The average price of gasoline in the United States has dropped to below 4 dollars per gallon for the first time in about half a year.

The US Energy Information Administration says the national average price of regular gasoline stood at 3 dollars and 93 cents per gallon on Monday. One gallon is about 3.78 liters.

The price of gas spiked after Russia invaded Ukraine in February. It topped the 5-dollar mark in June for the first time.

But the price then began falling, with crude oil futures on a declining trend, mainly due to concerns that the economies of China and Western countries may lose steam.

Despite the recent decline, prices remain elevated.

A customer at a gas station in New Jersey said that even though the price has fallen a bit, it is still too high.
