China's state broadcaster says a massive mudflow in the inland Chinese province of Qinghai has left at least 16 people dead and dozens more missing. China Central Television is reporting that sudden downpours triggered the mudslide in a mountainous area in Datong county on Wednesday night. Footage from the site shows large quantities of mud that flowed into a residential area, washing away homes. The report says about 6,200 people have been affected. It says 36 people were unaccounted for as of noon Thursday. More than 2,000 rescue workers, including police and firefighters, are searching for those missing.
