Ukrainians living in Japan have rallied in Tokyo, appealing for peace and continued support for their native country amid the ongoing Russian invasion. They gathered in front of JR Shibuya Station on Wednesday, Ukraine's Independence Day. The day also marked six months since Russia launched its invasion. The demonstrators, joined by non-Ukrainians, chanted "Stop Russia," with one of their banners reading "Peace for Ukraine." They also observed a moment of silence to honor those who have been killed in the conflict. One of the Ukrainian participants evacuated from Kyiv to Japan in April. She said her life has changed drastically over the past six months, but she is now very thankful for support for her to live comfortably in Japan. She added that she wants people not to forget what is going on in Ukraine so the war will end soon. A Japanese demonstrator who stayed in Ukraine about 30 years ago said she feels Japanese people's attention and concern over Ukraine are now waning. She said she will continue to try to help raise people's interest.
