European Union leaders have been careful not to get drawn into the fighting in Ukraine. However, they are working to provide the Ukrainians with more weapons and more skills. EU defense ministers met Monday and Tuesday in the Czech Republic to discuss a military training mission for Ukrainian soldiers. Ministers from France, Germany, and other countries have already provided training on their own. But some say the bloc needs "greater coordination." They are also concerned about their own stocks of weapons. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the EU is providing so many to Ukraine that member countries are depleting their own arsenals. The ministers discussed how to ramp up their production capacity. EU foreign ministers are holding their own meetings in Prague on Tuesday and Wednesday. They find themselves divided over something else the Ukrainians have requested: a travel ban on Russian citizens. The bloc has already tightened restrictions on officials and businesspeople. However, some argue it would be counterproductive to punish "ordinary Russians" who may not support the war.
