The United Nations plans to provide 160 million dollars to help Pakistan respond to devastating floods.
                
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a video message on Tuesday that the fund will provide 5.2 million people with humanitarian assistance.
                
Guterres said the Pakistani people are facing &quot;the relentless impact of epochal levels of rain and flooding&quot; and called South Asia &quot;one of the world&#039;s global climate crisis hotspots.&quot;
                
He concluded the message by saying, &quot;Today, it&#039;s Pakistan. Tomorrow, it could be your country.&quot;
                
Torrential rain has triggered floods in many parts of Pakistan since mid-June.
                
The country&#039;s disaster management authorities say the floods have killed 1,136 people and affected 33 million people.
                
They also say more than one million houses and buildings were damaged. The situation is worsening with shortages of food, water, safe shelter and medical supplies.
                
The Pakistani government has declared the floods a national emergency caused by climate change.
