The head of Japan's largest rail operator has called for a further easing of the country's anti-coronavirus border restrictions. The president and CEO of East Japan Railway, Fukasawa Yuji, said higher numbers of inbound tourists would help boost his company's earnings. He told reporters on Tuesday that, "We want the government to ease border-control measures to the same levels as in other Group of Seven nations, so that more tourists from overseas can visit Japan." The Japanese government will raise its daily entry cap on arrivals to 50,000 from Wednesday. Tourists from all countries will also be allowed to enter Japan without joining guided tours, although they will still be required to be part of package tours. Fukasawa recommended allowing individual travelers and exempting entry visas for some nationals.
