Former chairman of Tokyo Games sponsor released on bail NHK

A Tokyo court has granted bail to former executives of a business suit retailer charged with offering bribes to a former executive of the organizing committee of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The former chairman of Aoki Holdings, Aoki Hironori, his brother and former vice chairman, Aoki Takahisa, and another executive were released on bail late Wednesday.

The 83-year-old former chairman posted over 2 million dollars as bail.

The three are accused of providing over 350,000 dollars to the former executive of the Tokyo organizing committee, Takahashi Haruyuki, in order to win sponsorships and other Games-related contracts.

Sources say all three have admitted to the charges.

Also on Wednesday, Tokyo prosecutors raided the headquarters of domestic parking services provider Park24.

The company signed a so-called official supporter sponsorship deal with the Games' organizers in 2018.
