WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters on Wednesday that the number of coronavirus deaths worldwide last week was the lowest reported since March 2020. He went on to say that the world has never been in a better position to end the pandemic.

The UN health body also reported that new cases worldwide dropped 28 percent from the preceding week to about 3.13 million.

He went on to say, "She runs harder, with all the energy she has left... So, let's seize this opportunity."
