Japan's trade minister has stressed that it is important for the country to cooperate with its partners to bring about global peace and stability amid uncertainties stemming from the coronavirus pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Nishimura Yasutoshi spoke to reporters on Thursday after attending a Group of Seven trade ministers' meeting in Germany. He said Japan will continue to work with other G7 nations to build on discussions at the meeting. A joint statement issued after their meeting says the ministers "will continue to seek new opportunities to work together to support supply chain robustness." Nishimura said the involvement of emerging and developing countries is essential to establishing robust and sustainable supply chains. He added that efforts are needed to promote the concept to such countries in addition to the G7 nations.
