Taiwan says that two former speakers of parliament and a former prime minister will attend the state funeral of former Japanese prime minister Abe Shinzo in Tokyo on September 27.
A spokesperson for Taiwan's presidential office announced the delegates on Thursday.
The three include Su Jia-chyuan, a former parliamentary speaker who now chairs the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association, an organization that works as a liaison with Japan.
Another former speaker, Wang Jin-pyng, will also attend. The other attendee will be Frank Hsieh, a former prime minister who now heads the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Tokyo.
The spokesperson explained the three officials have been chosen for their experience at top levels in the legislative and administrative bodies.
The spokesperson added that they all had a close relationship with the late Abe, and they also have many connections in various fields in Japan.
