Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has held his first face-to-face talks with US President Joe Biden since taking office in June.
                
They discussed strengthening the military alliance between the two countries and the situations in the South China Sea, where Beijing is stepping up maritime activities.
                
The two leaders held talks on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday.
                
Biden said he wants to discuss the South China Sea and disputes in a critical global throughway.
