An online video of Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov's son, in which he seems to refuse to join the military, is going viral and causing repercussions. A group of Russian anti-government activists released the video last Wednesday, shortly after President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization of reservists. It has earned over 3.4 million views. The dissident group says the video shows its member, pretending to be an official in charge of calling up reservists, talking by phone with the Kremlin spokesperson's son, Nikolai Peskov. The phone caller is seen telling Nikolai that a summons has been sent to him and he must have received a letter ordering him to come to a recruitment office. Nikolai is heard responding, "Of course, I won't come tomorrow. The voice adds, "If you know I am Mr. Peskov, you must understand how wrong it is for me to be there." He says that he will solve this matter on a different level. Putin's spokesperson Peskov admitted that the voice is his son's, but said the group has not published the entire transcript of the phone call, and that he trusts his son.
