In Japanese professional baseball, Tokyo Yakult Swallows slugger Murakami Munetaka has racked up his 56th home run of the season, topping the record held by legend Oh Sadaharu. The 22-year-old Murakami blasted the homer in the team's last game of the regular season on Monday. It lifted him to second place in the number of home runs in a Nippon Professional Baseball season. The all-time record of 60 homers was achieved in 2013 by Wladimir Balentien. Murakami also earned a Triple Crown of batting average, runs batted in, and home runs in the Central League. He is the youngest NPB player to achieve that feat.
