Senior security officials from Japan and the United States have agreed to deal with Tuesday's launch of a ballistic missile by North Korea in a coordinated manner. The Secretary General of Japan's National Security Secretariat, Akiba Takeo, and White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke by phone for about 10 minutes on Tuesday morning, Japan time. Akiba told Sullivan the latest missile launch is a grave and imminent threat to Japan's security which puts regional and global peace and security at risk. He added Japan can never tolerate such activities. They agreed to step up cooperation and coordination between the two countries, as well as with South Korea and the international community.
