This year's Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to three people for contributing to the development of a new field known as quantum information science through experiments with entangled photons. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences told a news conference on Tuesday that it decided to give the prize to Alain Aspect, John Clauser, and Anton Zeilinger. The three proved that particles can get in entangled states through experiments and theory, which, in turn, laid the foundation for pioneering quantum information science. Quantum technology exploits the principles of quantum mechanics, or the physics of sub-atomic particles.
