Some municipalities in Japan are relaxing coronavirus restrictions as the number of new cases declines nationwide. Sources say Fukuoka Prefecture plans to lift its coronavirus alert for the first time in three months. Officials are expected to announce the move on Wednesday after gaining approval at a task force meeting. The decision comes amid a decline in new cases. The hospital bed occupancy rate for COVID patients is now below 20 percent in the prefecture. Tokushima Prefecture decided to lower its coronavirus alert level from two to one on its four-tier system as of 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The new, "observation" level is the lowest on the alert scale. The decision was based on opinions from an expert panel. Miyazaki Prefecture announced that it would lower its coronavirus alert level by one notch on Wednesday. Meetings with residents of elderly care facilities are now allowed for a limited number of visitors. Restaurants, including uncertified establishments, no longer have to limit the number of customers at a table to four or keep their stays to two hours. Japan's heath ministry says it confirmed 4,310 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Tuesday. Nationwide, the ministry confirmed 39,723 new cases and 65 deaths.
