Biden pledges $625 mil. in fresh military aid to Ukraine NHK

US President Joe Biden has pledged to provide 625 million dollars' worth of new military assistance to Ukraine. This came during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday.

The White House said in a statement that Biden stressed that the United States will never recognize Russia's purported annexation of Ukrainian territory.

The statement says Biden "pledged to continue supporting Ukraine as it defends itself from Russian aggression for as long as it takes."

The military aid package includes four High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS, and 200 armored vehicles, as well as artillery systems and ammunition.

The statement says Biden "also affirmed the continued readiness of the United States to impose severe costs on any individual, entity, or country that provides support to Russia's purported annexation."
