A spacecraft carrying astronauts from Japan and the US along with a Russian cosmonaut has successfully docked at the International Space Station ahead of a collaborative mission. This comes despite tensions related to the invasion of Ukraine. The SpaceX Crew Dragon vehicle arrived at the ISS at around 21:00 UTC on Thursday. That was roughly 29 hours after a rocket carrying the capsule lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in the US state of Florida. The members of the mission will shortly board the orbital laboratory. The crew is made up of Nicole Mann and Josh Cassada of NASA, Anna Kikina of Roscosmos and Wakata Koichi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. They will conduct experiments to prepare for human expeditions to the Moon and Mars. This is the fifth spaceflight for 59-year-old Wakata, the most for a Japanese astronaut. He will stay at the ISS for about six months.
