The governor of the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk says two mass burial sites were found in Lyman. The city was liberated by Ukrainian forces earlier this month. Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko posted on social media on Friday that one site has about 200 individual graves. The number buried in the other one is under investigation. A similar mass grave was found in Izyum in the neighboring Kharkiv region in September after the city was recaptured from Russian forces. More than 400 bodies have been exhumed at that site. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message on Friday that Ukrainian troops liberated 776 square kilometers of territory in the country' east this week. He said: "We will certainly come to the lands that were occupied by Russia earlier." The British defense ministry said Friday that Ukrainian forces appear to have captured and used equipment Russian troops left. It said, "Over half of Ukraine's currently fielded tank fleet potentially consists of captured vehicles." Meanwhile, the United Nations Human Rights Council on Friday adopted a resolution to appoint a special rapporteur on human rights in Russia. The resolution expresses grave concerns about the deterioration of human rights in Russia. It cited severe restrictions on the freedom of expression, including crackdowns on civil society organizations and independent media. The rapporteur will spend a year to investigate Russia's human rights situation and present a report to the council and the General Assembly.
