This year's Nobel Peace Prize has sparked a mixed reaction among Ukrainians. The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the winners on Friday as citizens' rights advocates from Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia.

The prize went to Belarusian activist Ales Bialiatski, Russia's Memorial, and Ukraine's Center for Civil Liberties.

Some people in Kyiv expressed joy. A 38-year-old civil servant says the news will help raise people's awareness about the situation in Ukraine.

But others aren't so happy. They include presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak, who tweeted that the Nobel Committee has shown an interesting understanding of the word "peace" by giving the prize to representatives from two countries that have attacked Ukraine.

Russia's presidential office is yet to comment.

In Belarus, a foreign ministry spokesperson described the winners in recent years as "so politicized" that "Alfred Nobel got tired of turning in his grave."
