Google CEO Sundar Pichai has set out his vision for the company's Japan operations during talks with Prime Minister Kishida Fumio. The two met in Tokyo on Friday. In an announcement the same day, the US tech giant unveiled plans to invest 100 billion yen, or about 690 million dollars, in Japan by 2024. The firm also said it will open its first Japan-based data center in the city of Inzai, Chiba Prefecture, next year. Other plans include laying undersea cables that connect Japan with Canada, and investments in human resources. After talking with Kishida, Pichai told reporters that he hopes Google will be a long-term partner for Japan.
