The Department of Energy is considering cancelling over $500 million in contracts awarded to more than a dozen startups, as well as large companies such as Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis, under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. 2. One of the affected companies, General Motors, could lose at least $500 million in grant money intended for retooling its Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant to produce electrified vehicles. 3. Several startups developing innovative technologies, including materials for batteries and cement production with lower carbon emissions, risk losing substantial grant funding. These include Brimstone ($189 million), Anovion (undisclosed amount), Li Industries ($55.2 million), Sublime Systems ($86.9 million), and Furno ($20 million).
