Ukraine is hoping it has given Russian forces a serious setback. It says it has struck a military arsenal in western Russia.
Ukrainian forces said on Wednesday that units operating drones had targeted the arsenal in the border region of Bryansk and explosions ensued.
They said the arsenal is believed to have stored missiles and ammunition, including those delivered from North Korea.
The Ukrainian side believes this will create serious logistical problems for Russian forces and reduce their offensive capabilities.
Meanwhile, Russia's defense ministry said on Wednesday that its forces shot down 24 of Ukraine's drones overnight.
The previous day, it said that Russian forces had taken control of two villages in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.
Ukraine conducted a series of attacks last month and struck four ammunition depots in Russia. Analysts are focusing on whether such strikes will help to slow down Russia's offense.
