International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons has praised the Paris Games for setting a new standard for competition and management of the Paralympics.
Parsons held a news conference near Paris on Sunday ahead of the closing of the 12-day Games.
He said "Paris 2024 is the new benchmark of the Paralympic Games in every aspect, in every single point of the organization."
He also said this Paralympics has provided a lot of evidence that if we remove the barriers, displaced athletes and athletes with disability can excel.
Parsons lauded the high level of competition, the enthusiasm of spectators and the management of the Games.
However, he added there is still a long way to go to realizing a world where people with disabilities can live comfortably.
Parsons expressed an intention to strengthen support by coordinating with the United Nations and governments around the world.
Organizing committee president Tony Estanguet also revealed that the number of tickets sold for the Paris Paralympics exceeded 2.5 million, the second largest on record.
