A pair of world-renowned musicians have held a concert in Japan's Noto Peninsula to give encouragement to people affected by a devastating earthquake in January and record torrential rain in September. Violinist Goto Midori and pianist Fujita Mao performed in front of about 450 people at the gymnasium of a junior high school in the city of Wajima on Wednesday. Goto performs under the musician name Midori. The two played five pieces and received a standing ovation from the audience. A 60-year-old attendee said he came to the concert to find solace as he was exhausted by the disasters. He said the music was very touching. A junior high school student who also attended said the performance warmed her heart and cheered her up. She said she is practicing piano herself and the concert has motivated her to improve her skills.
