The head of Myanmar's junta has called on groups opposing the military to resolve problems "politically." The remark by the military's top general is drawing attention, as the junta has refused dialogue with opposition groups since seizing power in 2021. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing gave a briefing on the fighting to the highest decision-making body on Monday. He warned that if such groups continue acting foolishly, there will be a negative impact on residents in certain regions. He added that it is "necessary to consider the lives of the people, and those organizations need to solve their problems politically." Militants from three groups launched a coordinated offensive in October in the country's eastern Shan state. One group announced that over 100 soldiers had been killed last week in a single day. Since the coup nearly three years ago, the top general has designated pro-democracy forces and their armed minority allies as terrorists, refusing any dialogue with them.
