Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has described relations with the US as being hampered by "disagreements" and "differences." He spent Thursday and Friday in Washington speaking with leaders in the Biden administration in an effort to reduce those concerns. Wang and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the war in Ukraine and the fighting in Gaza. They also have been preparing for a summit between presidents Xi Jinping and Joe Biden. Neither side has confirmed the details, but the meeting is expected to be held next month in San Francisco. On Friday, Biden welcomed Wang to the White House. The two countries are divided over many issues, including Taiwan, security in the Indo-Pacific region, and US export limits on tech products. Biden, however, emphasized that they need to communicate and manage competition "responsibly." National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan joined that meeting. US leaders raised concerns over confrontations in the South China Sea. They also stressed the need to work together to address "global challenges."
