US, China commerce chiefs meet in Beijing NHK

The US has been stepping up export controls on semiconductor products that can be used for military purposes. Earlier this month, Washington said it would regulate investment in China in artificial intelligence and some other areas.

China also introduced export controls this month on two strategic metals used as materials for semiconductors and other electronic products.

Raimondo plans to meet senior Chinese officials in Beijing and Shanghai through Wednesday.
