NHK has learned that Japan&#039;s former Olympic minister Hashimoto Seiko is among the Liberal Democratic Party lawmakers whose offices apparently did not report large kickbacks from the sale of fundraising party tickets.
                
Sources told NHK that Hashimoto is one of more than 10 members of the LDP&#039;s largest faction who allegedly received more than 10 million yen, or roughly 67,000 dollars, in kickbacks in the five years through 2022.
                
The faction, previously led by the late Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, is said to have paid kickbacks to its members who exceeded their ticket sale quotas.
                
Most of the accused faction members allegedly received kickbacks but kept the money off their political fund reports in breach of law. Tokyo prosecutors have launched an investigation into the scandal.
                
The members include Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu and economy minister Nishimura Yasutoshi.
                
The office of Upper House member Ohno Yasutada is said to have received more than 330,000 dollars in kickbacks.
                
The offices headed by Lower House lawmakers Ikeda Yoshitaka and Tanigawa Yaichi reportedly received 270,000 dollars each.
                
Prosecutors are believed to be considering interviewing the faction members to find out more about the flow of funds.
