Southeast Asian leaders have agreed to set a specific timeline for Myanmar&#039;s military rulers to implement a five-point peace plan.
                
The summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations discussed Myanmar on Friday. Cambodia is hosting the forum&#039;s first in-person meeting in three years.
                
Myanmar&#039;s junta has failed to honor an agreement with ASEAN on the Five-Point Consensus, which includes a call for a cessation of hostilities. The military continues to battle pro-democracy forces and ethnic minority militias following last year&#039;s coup.
                
ASEAN leaders agreed that the situation in Myanmar remains critical and fragile, with growing violence a major concern.
                
They decided to develop a plan &quot;that outlines concrete, practical and measurable indicators&quot; with a specific timeline to implement the Five-Point Consensus.
                
The leaders also agreed to further review Myanmar&#039;s representation at all levels of ASEAN gatherings if the situation so requires. Members of the junta are already barred from ASEAN&#039;s summit and foreign ministers&#039; meetings.
                
Myanmar refused to send a non-political representative to the latest ASEAN summit. It remains unclear whether the junta will agree to a timeline for the peace plan.
