Authorities in Hong Kong are likely to place exiled pro-democracy activist Agnes Chow on a wanted list for failing to report herself to the police.
Chow is currently based in Canada. She announced earlier this month that she had left Hong Kong in September, and would probably never return.
Chow was arrested in 2020 for allegedly violating the territory's national security law. She was released from prison in June 2021 after serving time for her role in a 2019 protest.
Her bail conditions include periodically reporting to the police. But authorities say she did not show up on Thursday, as required.
Hong Kong police told NHK on Friday that Chow has shamefully violated her bail conditions. They also vowed to bring her to justice.
Chow was a prominent figure in Hong Kong's Umbrella Movement in 2014, when young people called for democratic elections.
Some of her social media posts at that time were in fluent Japanese, and she became well known in Japan.
The Hong Kong government currently has 13 overseas individuals on a wanted list.
