The UN agency for Palestinian refugees says that Israeli forces' attacks in the Gaza Strip have forced Palestinians to live in less than one third of the entire enclave. UNRWA said in a social media post on Friday that about half a million people have been newly displaced in Gaza over the past month. The agency also said, "The multiple displacement orders issued by the Israeli military leave Palestinians with less than a third of Gaza's area to live in." It added that the remaining space is also under threat. Israeli forces are set to step up their attacks if there is no progress in negotiations over the release of hostages, raising concerns over a further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Local media reported on Friday that Israeli forces bombed a tent shelter in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, killing five members of a family, including a pregnant woman and three children. On the previous day, Israeli forces issued new warnings, urging residents in some areas in northern Gaza to evacuate. Eyal Zamir, Israeli forces' chief of the general staff, said Thursday that if there is no progress in the hostage deal, his forces will expand their activities. He also said Hamas is responsible for "starting this war" and "the dire situation of the population in Gaza."
