US President Donald Trump has warned book authors, publishers and media outlets that he may take legal action against the use of anonymous sources. Trump posted on social media on Wednesday, "Here come the Fake books and stories with the so-called 'anonymous,' or 'off the record,' quotes." He added, "They are made up, defamatory fiction." Trump also wrote, "At some point, I am going to sue some of these dishonest authors and book publishers, or even media in general, to find out whether or not these 'anonymous sources' even exist." Trump further suggested that his government may create laws to regulate media reports and other publications that use anonymous sources. In another post on Wednesday, Trump denounced a Wall Street Journal editorial that says his administration's tariff policy will hurt workers in the US auto industry. He wrote that the paper's editorial board is "sooo WRONG." The Trump administration has banned the Associated Press from covering the president in spaces such as Air Force One and the Oval Office, as the news agency has continued to use the Gulf of Mexico after Trump renamed it the "Gulf of America."
