More bear attacks have been reported in Japan.
In the northeastern prefecture of Yamagata, a woman in her 70s was clawed on her face and arms in a field next to her home. She was reportedly able to hold a conversation as she was taken to a hospital.
Police say the attack occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday in Obanazawa City.
The woman's family says she was near a persimmon tree when she noticed a bear. The animal came down from the tree and attacked her.
The family also says that the woman was attacked even though she was on her guard against bears.
The bear, reportedly about one meter in size, went away.
City officials set up a trap in the field, and are urging local residents to be careful as the bear may be hiding nearby.
In Fukui Prefecture, central Japan, a man believed to be in his 80s was found with head injuries. He reportedly said he was attacked by a bear while walking.
At around 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, a passerby found the injured man in a mountainous area of Ono City, and called a rescue team. His injuries are said to be not life-threatening.
Hunters and police are looking for the bear.
Authorities are urging local residents to lock up their homes and be vigilant when they go out.
