All memorial messages for the victims of last month's high-rise apartment fire in Hong Kong have been removed from a nearby park. Many people had visited the park to offer flowers and messages to express their sorrow for the victims of the deadly fire. 159 people have been confirmed dead and some others remain unaccounted for. A slew of messages written on paper slips at one time covered all surfaces of the pillars and benches in the park. Some of them carried a request for a probe to reveal the real cause of the fire. Others blamed the government for letting the disaster happen. But the volunteer group which was managing those tributes in the park decided to remove all the messages, and they were cleared between Sunday night and the early hours of Monday. The move is said to have been taken in line with the authorities' intention to contain criticism against the government. Still, people were seen coming to the park on Monday carrying flowers. One of them, a woman in her 20s, said she will never forget about the fire. She said she thinks more time should be allowed to pay tribute to the deceased.
