India&#039;s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inspected the site of a deadly bridge collapse in western India and stressed the need to conduct a thorough inquiry.
                
Modi visited Gujarat state on Tuesday and chaired a meeting to review the situation in the wake of Sunday&#039;s accident. Local police say 134 people have been confirmed dead.
                
Police say they have arrested nine people on suspicion of having failed to take safety control measures. They include repair company workers and security guards. Charges include culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
                
Indian media outlets reported that the suspension bridge, a popular tourist site, had been reopened just days ago after being renovated. They said more than the allowable limit of people may have been on the bridge.
                
Security camera footage shows people taking pictures on the bridge without noticing anything wrong just before the accident. They are thought to have had no time to run away before the bridge crashed into the river.
