Magnitude 7.4 quake hits off Argentina NHK

The US Geological Survey says an earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.4 struck off the southern coast of Argentina on Friday.



The USGS says the quake occurred at around 13:00 UTC at a depth of about 10 kilometers.



The US Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says there is a threat of tsunami on nearby coasts.



The Japan Meteorological Agency says there is no threat of tsunami in Japan.
