A senior North Korean official who served three generations of the country's supreme leaders has died at the age of 93. North Korean media reported on Sunday that Choe Thae Bok died of a cardiac infarction the previous day. Choe held the post of secretary for international affairs of the ruling Workers' Party. He was also the chair of the Supreme People's Assembly for more than 20 years. He worked under the country's founder Kim Il Sung, his son Kim Jong Il, and his grandson Kim Jong Un. Choe was one of the seven senior officials who walked alongside the hearse that carried the coffin of Kim Jong Il in 2011, which suggests the current leader's trust in him. The country's state-run television reported that Kim Jong Un visited Choe's family early Sunday morning to express his condolences. The broadcaster aired footage of Kim paying silent tribute to the late official with other members of the leadership team.
